Gastric Shield – 4L
$54.99
Studies have shown gastric lesions can occur in less than 12 hours and as early as 2 days of age with foals. As many as 90% of racehorses, 60-80% of competitive horses and 25-50% of foals have some form of gastric and/ or hindgut ulcers.
Inadequate forage, infrequent feedings, high grain diets, lack of fresh, clean water, stress from transportation and intense training and exercise, chronic use of NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), rebound impact of proton inhibitor medications, all contribute to the formation of ulcers.
Gastric Shield helps to support a healthy digestive tract by buffering the gastric secretions that can breakdown or erode the mucosal lining of the esophagus, upper stomach and hind gut. These are areas where there is little mucosal producing and at greater risk from developing gastric (upper gut or stomach) ulcers and hind gut (colonic) ulcers.
Exercise can cause gastric acid to “back splash” to the sensitive upper stomach and esophagus, causing discomfort, erosion of the protective mucosal layer in this area. Horses are grazing animals and require a constant flow of saliva and forage to neutralize stomach acid that is produced in the lower stomach. Although essential to facilitate the digestion of starches, fats and protein, without the bicarbonate action from saliva and presence of forage, these gastric secretions can cause ulcers or sores in the mucosal lining on many areas along the digestive tract.
Strictly Equine's Gastric shield is an excellent source of neutralizing bicarbonate minerals and kaolin to help buffer and reduce the acidity of gastric secretions, maintaining a neutral pH which eases the impact of everyday gastric secretions. Gastric shield also help prevent recurring ulcers that can result from the “acid rebound” that impact horses treated with proton inhibitors such as omeprazole or horses that have been on NSAID (non steroid anti-inflammatory drug). NSAID that cause thinning of the mucosal or stomach lining.
Gastric Shield is an easy to administer, and palatable alternative to buffering and neutralizing the gastric secretions that are increased above regular daily production during stressful situations and work. The bicarbonate minerals and kaolin not only help reduce acidity and damage to the mucosal lining, but help soothe the digestive tract and promote healing from existing or reoccurring ulcers.
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Calcium Carbonate 2430mg, Magnesium Oxide 1380mg Kaolin 810mg and Copper Gluconate 6mg INACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Water, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Saccharin, Methyl DIRECTIONS FOR USE (HORSES): Give 30-60ml daily

Myler Loose Ring Bit 14mm MB06
$184.99 $206.00
Myler Stainless Steel Loose Ring, MB 06-14mm Mullen with Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3
The MB 06 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is ¾" high, just enough to allow the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the 06 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lips. Mouthpiece is 14mm at the cheek.
Independent Side Movement
Stainless Steel Mouthpiece
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
Copper Inlay
USEF 2012 and FEI 2016 Dressage Legal. Consult rulebook for more information.
Notes: This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece will offer more tongue relief than the MB 06 when the reins are relaxed, but more tongue pressure when the reins are engaged.
The loose ring is a simple stainless steel "O" shape where both the bridle and mouthpiece have no fixed point of attachment but slide freely around the ring. The loose ring allows a lot of play as the mouthpiece slides freely around the ring.
Size: 3" ring
Action: Direct
Discipline: English or Western
Notes: The loose ring is generally considered one of the most non-interfering cheek pieces because the mouthpiece slides freely around the ring. However the play in the mouthpiece can make it difficult for a horse to find your hands as the mouthpiece is in continual motion. The movement of the mouthpiece can also exaggerate or create a busy mouth in young or anxious horses. It is best suited for more advanced horses fully schooled in leg and seat aids as well as rein aids.

Myler Eggbutt Bit w/ Hooks MB04
$242.99 $270.00
*You are seeing a brand new design for this cheekpiece. Please be aware that some retailers may not have this style in stock yet so you may receive the original design.
Size 6" only available in old design.
Myler Stainless Steel Eggbutt with Hooks, MB 04 Low Port Comfort Snaffle, Level 2
The MB 04 is similar to the MB 02 in that it will rotate on the tongue and apply tongue pressure, however, it has a small (¼") port that introduces some tongue relief to the horse. The port allows the horse to swallow and move his tongue when he is moving forward and relaxed, which acts as a release or reward. The mouthpiece is curved, and it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching.
Independent Side Movement
Stainless Steel Mouthpiece
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
Copper Inlay
NOT Dressage Legal
Notes: The MB 04 provides an excellent transition from Level One to Level Two. It is suitable for a wide range of horses including green horses, experienced horses entering the Myler System, horses that have been ridden exclusively in a single-jointed mouthpiece, or horses that have not been ridden for a while needing re-schooling.
The addition of the hooks to the cheek make this a more versatile version of the eggbutt without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheeks. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece (if available). Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.
The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb hooks). Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot will fit standard ⅝" bridle leather.
Size: 3 ½" rounded ring
Action: Direct rein action when rein hook is not used. Indirect rein action when rein is fixed on rein hook.
Discipline: English or Western
Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used.
