Myler Pelham Bit MB04
$323.99 $360.00
Myler Stainless Steel Pelham, MB 04 Low Port Comfort Snaffle, Level 2
The MB 04 is similar to the MB 02 in that it will rotate on the tongue and apply tongue pressure, however, it has a small (¼") port that introduces some tongue relief to the horse. The port allows the horse to swallow and move his tongue when he is moving forward and relaxed, which acts as a release or reward. The mouthpiece is curved, and it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching.
Independent Side Movement
Stainless Steel Mouthpiece
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
Copper Inlay
Notes: The MB 04 provides an excellent transition from Level One to Level Two. It is suitable for a wide range of horses including green horses, experienced horses entering the Myler System, horses that have been ridden exclusively in a single-jointed mouthpiece, or horses that have not been ridden for a while needing re-schooling.
The stainless steel Pelham is designed to be used with two pairs of reins simultaneously. The headstall attaches to the purchase ring which keeps the cheek stationary. The first set of reins are the snaffle reins, which attach to the larger ring adjacent to the mouthpiece. The second set of reins are the curb reins, which attach to the smaller ring at the bottom of the shank. Comes with curb chain.
The Pelham uses both direct (snaffle) and indirect (curb) rein action using two sets of reins acting on one mouthpiece. Similar to a double bridle, which also uses two sets of reins, but the double bridle requires a snaffle bit for the snaffle rein and a curb bit for the curb rein. The Pelham can be used with a bit converter, a leather loop connecting the snaffle and curb ring to which only one set of reins is attached.
Action: Snaffle ring is Direct rein action. Curb ring is Indirect rein action.
Size: 4" straight shank with purchase
Discipline: English
Degree of Leverage: Mild
Notes: For a cheek that offers both Direct and Indirect rein as separate options for one set of reins, see the Kimberwick.

Myler Pelham MB33
$323.99 $360.00
Myler Stainless Steel Pelham, MB 33 Medium Wide Ported Barrel, Level 3
The MB 33 is the mildest Myler mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass almost completely under the bit. Because this mouthpiece does not rotate on to the tongue and the port is wide, it applies little to no tongue pressure, working primarily off the lips and bars. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ½" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. Because the MB 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a trustworthy and consistent disposition, and is trained to work off the leg and seat as well as the hands.
Independent Side Movement

Curved Mouthpiece
Copper Inlay
Notes: For a slight increase in tongue pressure, see the MB 43LP or MB 43MP. For same tongue relief without Independent Side Movement, see the MB 16 (Western only). For the same tongue relief and Independent Side Movement, but with a slight degree of collapse, see the MB 05. For more generous tongue relief, see the MB 16PB.

Myler Small Baucher Bit MB02
$239.99 $265.00
Myler Stainless Steel Small Baucher, MB 02 Comfort Snaffle Wide Barrel, Level 1
The MB 02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™.

Notes: The mouthpiece is similar to the MB 02 but the center barrel of the MB 01 is narrower, which concentrates pressure on the center of the tongue more than the MB 02. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04.
Also known as a “hanging cheek” because the bridle attaches at the purchase, the Baucher is typically used for dressage. The fixed cheek keeps the bit suspended in the horse’s mouth and prevents it from sliding around in the bridle, giving the rider more control over the mouthpiece than a traditional loose ring. However, the reins remain free to slide. When engaged, the reins will pull back on the cheekpiece and mouthpiece, as well as rotate the purchase forward slightly, creating some poll pressure. Even though it has a fixed cheek, the Baucher is still considered a direct rein action cheekpiece because there is no leverage or curb action.
