Myler Stainless Steel 3 3/8" Medium Dee, MB 02 Comfort Snaffle Wide Barrel, Level 1
The MB 02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™.

Notes: The mouthpiece is similar to the MB 02 but the center barrel of the MB 01 is narrower, which concentrates pressure on the center of the tongue more than the MB 02. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04.
The dee without hooks is a traditional "D" shaped cheek with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece. This style keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring. The straight side of the dee will not pull through the mouth and does not pinch.

Myler Stainless Steel 3 3/4" Dee with Hooks, MB 27PB Correctional Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3
The MB 27PB is a Myler correctional mouthpiece, which is a ported mouthpiece that collapses on to the outer lip and bars, and rotates on to the tongue. The port, although narrow and somewhat low, allows room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. When the reins are engaged and the mouthpiece rotates on to the tongue, it applies two concentrated points of pressure on the tongue for quick control. Because this port is only 1 ¼" high, it will apply little to no palate pressure.

The dee with hooks is a stainless steel "D" shaped ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as slots (“hooks”) at the top and bottom of the ring for bridle and rein attachment. The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb hooks). Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot on the standard and medium dee will fit standard ⅝" bridle leather. The slots on the pony dee will fit ¾" bridle leather.
The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the dee without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheek pieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allow the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece. Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.

Myler Stainless Steel 3 3/4" Dee with Hooks, MB 36 Mullen Forward Tilt Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3

The MB 36 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is 1" high, and tilted forward at a 45º angle, allowing just enough room for the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lip, but also applies tongue pressure because of the forward tilt.

Notes: This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece is similar to the MB 06, except that it is ¼" higher and the port is tilted forward. The MB 06 mouthpiece will apply less tongue pressure than the MB 36 but additionally offer less tongue relief when the reins are relaxed. The MB 01 rotates onto the tongue to apply concentrated tongue pressure at the center barrel, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional single-jointed mouthpiece. However, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and allows for each side of the bit to be used independently.
