Myler Stainless Steel Eggbutt without Hooks, MB 10 French Link, Level 1
The MB 10 is a more comfortable Myler version of the traditional French link mouthpiece. It has a smaller link with a flatter contour which allows the tongue more freedom in the mouth and minimizes interference with the palate. Although it lacks the benefits of a “true” Myler mouthpiece, it has a distinctive curve so the bars of the bit wrap around the horse’s bar and lips which make the bit more comfortable.

Notes: The MB 10 disperses pressure over the tongue similarly to the MB 02, but does not offer the Independent Side Movement™ of a true Myler mouthpiece. Popular with riders who are more comfortable with a traditional design, but we recommend that you try the MB 01, 02, or 03 to get the full benefit of Myler features. An eggbutt is a traditional cheek style which keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring. The straight side of eggbutt will not pull through the mouth and does not pinch. For a more versatile version, see the eggbutt with hooks.

Myler Eggbutt Bit w/ Hooks MB06

Myler Stainless Steel Eggbutt with Hooks, MB 06 Mullen with Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-The MB 06 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is ¾" high, just enough to allow the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the 06 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lips.

Notes: This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece will offer more tongue relief than the MB 06 when the reins are relaxed, but more tongue pressure when the reins are engaged. For more overall tongue relief, see MB 43LP.
The addition of the hooks to the cheek make this a more versatile version of the eggbutt without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheeks. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece (if available). Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.
The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb hooks). Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot will fit standard ⅝" bridle leather.
