Myler Full Cheek Bit w/ Hooks MB33
$251.99 $280.00
Myler Stainless Steel Full Cheek with Hooks, MB 33 Medium Wide Ported Barrel, Level 3
The MB 33 is the mildest Myler mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass almost completely under the bit. Because this mouthpiece does not rotate on to the tongue and the port is wide, it applies little to no tongue pressure, working primarily off the lips and bars. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ½" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. Because the MB 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a trustworthy and consistent disposition, and is trained to work off the leg and seat as well as the hands.

Curved Mouthpiece

Notes: For a slight increase in tongue pressure, see the MB 43LP or MB 43MP. For same tongue relief without Independent Side Movement, see the MB 16 (Western only). For the same tongue relief and Independent Side Movement, but with a slight degree of collapse, see the MB 05. For more generous tongue relief, see the MB 16PB.
The full cheek with hooks is a traditional cheek style designed to be used with bit keepers (sold separately) to hold the bit in correct position. The posts also prevent the bit from sliding through the mouth while applying cheek pressure. When used without bit keepers, bit will sit in the mouth similarly to a dee or eggbutt without hooks. The ring has fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as one rein slots (“hooks”) at the bottom of the ring for rein attachment. No attachment for curb chain or strap. TThe rein slot will fit standard ⅝" bridle leather.
The hook makes this a much more versatile bit than one without the hook. Using bit keepers to hold the post in the correct position stabilizes the bit in the bridle instead of allowing it to flop forward. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allow the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece. Using the rein hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit.
Action: Direct rein action when reins are not attached through rein hook. Indirect rein action when rein is fixed on rein hook.
Size: Rounded 2 ¼" ring, 6" overall height
Discipline: Primarily English with bit keepers. Commonly used in Western without bit keepers.
Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used

Myler Full Cheek Bit w/ Hooks MB02
$239.99
Myler Stainless Steel Full Cheek with Hooks, MB 02 Comfort Snaffle Wide Barrel, Level 1
The MB 02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™.
Independent Side Movement™
Stainless Steel mouthpiece
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
Copper Inlay
NOT Dressage Legal
Notes: The mouthpiece is similar to the MB 02 but the center barrel of the MB 01 is narrower, which concentrates pressure on the center of the tongue more than the MB 02. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04.
The ring has fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as slots (“hooks”) at the top and bottom of the ring for bridle and rein attachment. No attachment for curb chain or strap. Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot on the standard and medium dee will fit standard ⅝" bridle leather.
The hooks make this a much more versatile bit than one without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheek pieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allow the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece. Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit.
Action: Direct rein action when reins are not attached through rein hook. Indirect rein action when rein is fixed on rein hook.

Discipline: Primarily English with bit keepers. Commonly used in Western without bit keepers.
Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used

Myler Stainless Steel 3 3/4" Dee without Hooks, MB 06 Mullen with Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3
3" Dee on Pony Sizes
The MB 06 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is ¾" high, just enough to allow the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the 06 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lips.
Independent Side Movement
Stainless Steel Mouthpiece
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
Copper Inlay
USEF 2012 and FEI 2016 Dressage Legal. Consult rulebook for more information.
Notes: This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece will offer more tongue relief than the MB 06 when the reins are relaxed, but more tongue pressure when the reins are engaged.
The dee without hooks is a traditional "D" shaped cheek with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece. This style keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring. The straight side of the dee will not pull through the mouth and does not pinch.
Size: 3 ¾" dee ring on 5" mouthpiece, 3" dee ring on pony 4 1/4", 4 1/2", 4 3/4" mouthpieces
Action: Direct
Discipline: Mainly English
Notes: For a more versatile version of the cheek piece, see the dee with hooks or the eggbutt with hooks.
