Myler Loose Ring Bit w/ Sweet Iron Mouth MB02 Myler Loose Ring Bit w/ Sweet Iron Mouth MB02

Myler Loose Ring Bit w/ Sweet Iron Mouth MB02

$197.99 $220.00
Myler Stainless Steel Loose Ring, Comfort Snaffle Wide Barrel, Level 1 The MB 02 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits. The MB 02 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™. Independent Side Movement™ Sweet iron mouthpiece Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars Copper Inlay USEF Dressage Legal, 2019 Notes: The mouthpiece is similar to the MB 02 but the center barrel of the MB 01 is narrower, which concentrates pressure on the center of the tongue more than the MB 02. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04. The loose ring is a simple stainless steel "O" shape where both the bridle and mouthpiece have no fixed point of attachment but slide freely around the ring. The loose ring allows a lot of play as the mouthpiece slides freely around the ring. Size: 3" ring Action: Direct Discipline: English or Western Notes: The loose ring is generally considered one of the most non-interfering cheek pieces because the mouthpiece slides freely around the ring. However the play in the mouthpiece can make it difficult for a horse to find your hands as the mouthpiece is in continual motion. The movement of the mouthpiece can also exaggerate or create a busy mouth in young or anxious horses. It is best suited for more advanced horses fully schooled in leg and seat aids as well as rein aids. 4.75", 5", 5.25", 5.5", 6"

Happy Mouth King Dee Bit With French Link

$119.99
Shaped like a D, the King Dee’s flat side provides slight lateral guiding while also helping to prevent the bit from being pulled through the horse’s mouth. King Dee's are most popular in the hunter ring but can be seen in racing, eventing, or dressage. The center of the mouthpiece features a French link mouthpiece that sits in the centre, joining the two halves of the bit together and applies mild pressure to the horse’s tongue when required. Happy Mouth bits offer a unique apple scent that encourages horses to accept the bit and the space age polymer mouthpiece offers an alternative to a metal bit. Myler Western Dee w/ Hooks MB43LP Myler Western Dee w/ Hooks MB43LP

Myler Western Dee w/ Hooks MB43LP

$269.99 $300.00
*You are seeing a brand new design for this cheekpiece. Please be aware that some retailers may not have this style in stock yet so you may receive the original design. Myler Stainless Steel Western Dee with Hooks, MP 43LP Narrow Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3 The MB 43LP does not rotate on to the tongue, but instead sits solidly  across the bars and lips of the horse’s mouth. The port is narrower than a Level 3 mouthpiece, but still offers room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. Because the port is narrow, when the reins are engaged, the horse will feel a slight pressure on the outside edges of the tongue — a gentle reminder rather than a strong reprimand. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ¼" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. It is the mildest of the Level 2-3 mouthpieces in terms of tongue pressure, just one step below a Level 3 mouthpiece. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron mouthpiece Curved Mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars Copper Inlay Notes: For more tongue relief and the Level 3 version of this bit, see the MB 33. For a correctional with ample tongue relief, see the MB 41PBW. For a correctional bit with more tongue pressure, see the MB 41PB or MB 27PB. The Western Dee with Hooks is a circular stainless steel ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, with top and bottom rings (“hooks”) for headstall and rein attachment. The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb hooks). The top bridle ring will fit standard ⅝" leather found on most headstalls. The bottom rein ring has recently been updated to fit slobber straps up to approximately 1 ¾". The knob on the top of the rein ring is for decoration—it has no function. The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the dee without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheek pieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allow the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece. Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces. Size: 3" offset ring Action: Direct rein action when reins are not attached through rein hook. Indirect rein action when rein is fixed on rein hook. Discipline: Primarily Western Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used Size: 3" offset ring Action: Direct rein action when reins are not attached through rein hook. Indirect rein action when rein is fixed on rein hook. Discipline: Primarily Western Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used 5"

Myler MBB Black Steel Flat Shank w/ Dots MB43MP

$310.99 $345.00
Myler MBB Black Steel 6 3/4" Medium Shank, MB 43MP Narrow Medium Ported Barrel, Level 2-3 The MB 43MP does not rotate on to the tongue, but instead sits solidly across the bars and lips of the horse’s mouth. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ½" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. The MB 43MP is the mildest of the Level Two-Three mouthpieces in terms of tongue pressure, just one step below a Level 3 mouthpiece. Sweet Iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron Mouthpiece, Copper Inlay Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars Black shank will discolor over time to an antique brown Stainless Steel Dots Notes: For more tongue pressure, see the MB 27LP. For more tongue relief, see the MB 41PB. For slightly less tongue relief or a lower port, see the 43LP. For the same benefits but with some palate pressure, see the MB 43HP. For the correctional version of this mouthpiece, see the MB 47 and MB 47PB. For the Level 3 version of this mouthpiece without Independent Side Movement, see the MB 12 or MB 98. The MBB shank is a length of flat black steel curved slightly back towards the horse, with a teardrop purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment to the cheek with a decorative “stack.” The shank is decorated with stainless steel dots. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. The black steel will discolor over time to an antique brown. The MBB flat shank is an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. This shank uses the combination of fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll. Size: 6 3/4" Shank Action: Indirect Discipline: Western Degree of Leverage: Moderate 5"

Myler MBB Black Steel Flat Shank w/ Dots MB36 Myler MBB Black Steel Flat Shank w/ Dots MB36

Myler MBB Black Steel Flat Shank w/ Dots MB36

$323.99 $360.00
Myler MBB Black Steel 6 3/4" Medium Shank, MB 36 Mullen Forward Tilt Ported Barrel, Level 2-3 The MB 36 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is 1" high, and tilted forward at a 45º angle, allowing just enough room for the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lip, but also applies tongue pressure because of the forward tilt. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron mouthpiece Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips or bars Copper Inlay Black shank will discolor over time to an antique brown Stainless steel dots Notes: This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece is similar to the MB 06, except that it is ¼" higher and the port is tilted forward. The MB 06 mouthpiece will apply less tongue pressure than the MB 36 but additionally offer less tongue relief when the reins are relaxed. For more overall tongue relief and less tongue pressure, see the 43MP. Size: 6 3/4" Action: Indirect Discipline: Western Degree of Leverage: Moderate 5"

Lynn McKenzie Myler 3-Ring Combo MB32-3 Lynn McKenzie Myler 3-Ring Combo MB32-3

Lynn McKenzie Myler 3-Ring Combo MB32-3

$349.99 $400.00
Myler Stainless Steel 3-Ring Combination Bit, MB 32-3 Mullen Triple Barrel, Level 2 The MB 32-3 is an innovative Myler alternative to the traditional mullen. It has three barrels which turn the mouthpiece from the typical solid bar of a mullen into a flexible bar which allows the horse to elevate his tongue and swallow more easily. When the reins are engaged, the mouthpiece becomes a solid bar like a traditional mullen, but with an exaggerated curve. This curved bar rotates across the bars and lips down on to the tongue, applying pressure across the entire surface of the tongue. The flexibility of the MB 32-3 makes it very forgiving and comforting when relaxed, but offers the rider control when engaged. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron Mouthpiece Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars Copper Inlay Notes: Because the tongue pressure applied by the MB 32-3 is evenly distributed across the entire tongue, this mouthpiece is considered "stronger" than the MB 04. However, its flexibility makes it a forgiving mouthpiece that works well for horses who have suffered mouth trauma or damage, or horses that tend to go behind the bit. For a ported mullen style offering more tongue relief, see the MB 06 or MB 36. The 6" stainless steel 3-ring combination bit is a hybrid of a ring bit, shank bit, and hackamore and uses five different pressure points to disperse rein pressure. Because the noseband and chin strap are connected through the purchase, when the reins are engaged, the horse first feels nose, chin and poll pressure before he feels the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece can slide 1" before reaching a stop, where it will then engage and apply pressure. The purpose is to give the horse an opportunity to respond to the rider’s rein signals before applying mouthpiece pressure. The combination bit has Independent Swivel Cheek and the purchase is slightly angled away from the cheek to prevent rubbing. The noseband is flat leather with knotted cord on either side and the chin strap is synthetic to avoid stretching over time. Action: Indirect Discipline: English or Western Degree of Leverage: The 3-ring combination bit offers three different rein positions: the big ring, middle ring and bottom ring. Big Ring = No leverage Middle Ring = Mild Bottom Ring = Mild Notes: If you ride with your rein attached to the big ring, it will function only as a direct rein snaffle and not apply nose, chin, poll pressure as a combination bit.   This bit is special order and final sale.

Myler Black Steel Western Dee MB02 Myler Black Steel Western Dee MB02

Myler Black Steel Western Dee MB02

$278.99 $309.00
Myler Black Steel Western Dee, MB 03 Comfort Snaffle with Copper Roller, Level 1 The MB 03 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits with an added copper roller. The MB 03 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Curved Mouthpiece Sweet Iron Mouthpiece, Copper Inlay Black dee will discolor over time to antique brown Stainless steel dots Notes: The MB 03 is identical to the MB 02 except for a copper roller on the center barrel which can comfort horses that are restless or nervous. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04. The Black Steel Western Dee without Hooks is a ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece. This traditional cheek style keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring. The straight side of ring will not pull through the mouth and does not pinch. Size: 3" offset ring Action: Direct Discipline: Primarily Western Notes: For a more versatile version, see the Western Dee with hooks. 5"

Myler MBL Short Shank MB16PB

$323.99 $360.00
Myler Stainless Steel 5 1/2" MBL Short Shank, MB 16PB Wide Ported Barrel, Level 3 The MB 16PB has a generously wide and moderately high port that allows plenty of room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit, more so than the MB 33. Although the port is 1 ⅞", its generous width makes the mouthpiece sit very low in the mouth, minimizing the likelihood of any palate pressure. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Curved Mouthpiece Sweet Iron mouthpiece Copper Inlay Notes: For slightly less tongue relief, see the MB 33 or MB 05. For the same tongue relief without Independent Side Movement, see the MB 16. The MBL Shank is a length of flat stainless steel curved slightly back towards the horse, with a teardrop purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece attaches loosely to the cheek with a small decorative stack that allows ⅛" of slide, just enough to allow more tongue relief. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. The MBT has the patented Independent Swivel Cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece and shank all move independently of each other. The MBL is an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. The MBL uses the combination of fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll. Recommended for use with ported mouthpieces.
