Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB41PB Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB41PB

Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB41PB

$305.99 $340.00
Myler Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank, MB 41PB Correctional Ported Barrel, Level 2-3 The MB 41PB is a truly unique Myler mouthpiece. This mouthpiece is a correctional mouthpiece, a ported mouthpiece that collapses on to the outer lip and bars, and rotates on to the tongue. The port has a tiered design; the base is generously wide with rounded corners, offering virtually the same comfort and tongue relief of a Level 3 mouthpiece, while the top is narrower and has pronounced corners. If the horse is relaxed, the tongue can pass comfortably under the wide opening. When the reins are engaged, the mouthpiece collapses on to the bars and lips and rotates on to the tongue. The pronounced corners of the port apply two points of pressure on the tongue for increased control. The result is a mouthpiece that offers maximum tongue relief for the horse, but very good control for the rider. The unique design and the generous tongue relief of the MB 41PB make it the only correctional that can be used long term, possibly even as a horse’s finishing bit. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron Mouthpiece Curved Mouthpiece Copper Inlay Notes: The MB 41PB used with Western cheek pieces is 1 ¼" high. When used with English cheek pieces and the Combination Bit, it is ¾" high. For the same tongue relief see the MB 05, for a non-correctional mouthpiece with the same tongue relief, see the MB 33. For slightly more tongue pressure, see the MB 43LP. For quicker tongue pressure and less tongue relief, see the correctional MB 27PB. The 7" Flat Shank is stainless steel and curved slightly back towards the horse, with a flat-top purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment. The Flat Shank has the patented Independent Swivel Cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece and shank all move independently of each other. The purchase is slightly angled away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. It has an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. The flat shank uses the combination of the fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll. Action: Indirect Discipline: Western Degree of Leverage: Moderate 5"

Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB05 Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB05

Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB05

$296.99 $330.00
Myler Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank, MB 05 Low Medium Wide Ported Barrel, Level 3 The MB05 is one of the mildest Myler mouthpieces in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass under the bit. However, unlike the solid MB 33, the MB 05 collapses slightly although it does not fully rotate on to the tongue like a Level 1 or Level 2 mouthpiece. This gives the mouthpiece more give and may apply some light tongue pressure although it works primarily off the lips and bars. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ¼" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. Because the MB 05 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a trustworthy and consistent disposition, and is trained to work off the leg and seat as well as the hands. Independent Side Movement Curved mouthpiece Sweet Iron mouthpiece Copper Inlay Notes: For a slight increase in tongue pressure, see the MB 43LP. For similar tongue relief without Independent Side Movement, see the MB 12. For the same tongue relief and Independent Side Movement, but with no collapse, see the MB 33. For more tongue relief, see the MB 16PB. Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB32-3

$305.99 $340.00
Myler Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank, MB 32-3 Mullen Triple Barrel, Level 2 The MB 32-3 is an innovative Myler alternative to the traditional mullen. It has three barrels which turn the mouthpiece from the typical solid bar of a mullen into a flexible bar which allows the horse to elevate his tongue and swallow more easily. When the reins are engaged, the mouthpiece becomes a solid bar like a traditional mullen, but with an exaggerated curve. This curved bar rotates across the bars and lips down on to the tongue, applying pressure across the entire surface of the tongue. The flexibility of the MB 32-3 makes it very forgiving and comforting when relaxed, but offers the rider control when engaged. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron Mouthpiece Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars Copper Inlay Notes: Because the tongue pressure applied by the MB 32-3 is evenly distributed across the entire tongue, this mouthpiece is considered "stronger" than the MB 04. However, its flexibility makes it a forgiving mouthpiece that works well for horses who have suffered mouth trauma or damage, or horses that tend to go behind the bit. For a ported mullen style offering more tongue relief, see the MB 06 or MB 36. Myler MBL Short Shank MB06

$310.99 $345.00
Myler Stainless Steel 5 1/2" MBL Short Shank, MB 06 Mullen with Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3 The MB 06 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is ¾" high, just enough to allow the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the 06 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lips. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron Mouthpiece Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars Copper Inlay Notes: This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece will offer more tongue relief than the MB 06 when the reins are relaxed, but more tongue pressure when the reins are engaged. For more overall tongue relief, see MB 43LP. The MBL Shank is a length of flat stainless steel curved slightly back towards the horse, with a teardrop purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece attaches loosely to the cheek with a small decorative stack that allows ⅛" of slide, just enough to allow more tongue relief. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. The MBT has the patented Independent Swivel Cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece and shank all move independently of each other. The MBL is an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. The MBL uses the combination of fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll. Recommended for use with ported mouthpieces. $323.99 $360.00
Myler Stainless Steel 5 1/2" MBL Short Shank, MB 16PB Wide Ported Barrel, Level 3 The MB 16PB has a generously wide and moderately high port that allows plenty of room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit, more so than the MB 33. Although the port is 1 ⅞", its generous width makes the mouthpiece sit very low in the mouth, minimizing the likelihood of any palate pressure. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Myler MBL Medium Shank MB43MP

$279.99 $325.00
Myler Stainless Steel 6 3/4" MBL Medium Shank, MB 43MP Narrow Medium Ported Barrel, Level 2-3 The MB 43MP does not rotate on to the tongue, but instead sits solidly across the bars and lips of the horse’s mouth. The port is narrower than a Level 3 mouthpiece, but still offers room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. Because the port is narrow, when the reins are engaged, the horse will feel a slight pressure on the outside edges of the tongue — a gentle reminder rather than a strong reprimand. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ½" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. The MB 43MP is the mildest of the Level Two-Three mouthpieces in terms of tongue pressure, just one step below a Level 3 mouthpiece. Sweet Iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron mouthpiece Curved Mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars Copper Inlay Notes: For more tongue pressure, see the MB 27LP. For more tongue relief, see the MB 41PB. For slightly less tongue relief or a lower port, see the 43LP. For the same benefits but with some palate pressure, see the MB 43HP. For the correctional version of this mouthpiece, see the MB 47 and MB 47PB. For the Level 3 version of this mouthpiece without Independent Side Movement, see the MB 12 or MB 98. Myler Black Steel Western Dee MB02

$278.99 $309.00
Myler Black Steel Western Dee, MB 03 Comfort Snaffle with Copper Roller, Level 1 The MB 03 is the Myler alternative to the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits with an added copper roller. The MB 03 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Curved Mouthpiece Sweet Iron Mouthpiece, Copper Inlay Black dee will discolor over time to antique brown Stainless steel dots Notes: The MB 03 is identical to the MB 02 except for a copper roller on the center barrel which can comfort horses that are restless or nervous. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04. The Black Steel Western Dee without Hooks is a ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece. This traditional cheek style keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring. The straight side of ring will not pull through the mouth and does not pinch. Size: 3" offset ring Action: Direct Discipline: Primarily Western Notes: For a more versatile version, see the Western Dee with hooks. 5"

Lynn McKenzie Myler 3-Ring Combo MB32-3

$349.99 $400.00
Myler Stainless Steel 3-Ring Combination Bit, MB 32-3 Mullen Triple Barrel, Level 2 The MB 32-3 is an innovative Myler alternative to the traditional mullen. The 6" stainless steel 3-ring combination bit is a hybrid of a ring bit, shank bit, and hackamore and uses five different pressure points to disperse rein pressure. Because the noseband and chin strap are connected through the purchase, when the reins are engaged, the horse first feels nose, chin and poll pressure before he feels the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece can slide 1" before reaching a stop, where it will then engage and apply pressure. The purpose is to give the horse an opportunity to respond to the rider’s rein signals before applying mouthpiece pressure. The combination bit has Independent Swivel Cheek and the purchase is slightly angled away from the cheek to prevent rubbing. The noseband is flat leather with knotted cord on either side and the chin strap is synthetic to avoid stretching over time. Action: Indirect Discipline: English or Western Degree of Leverage: The 3-ring combination bit offers three different rein positions: the big ring, middle ring and bottom ring. Big Ring = No leverage Middle Ring = Mild Bottom Ring = Mild Notes: If you ride with your rein attached to the big ring, it will function only as a direct rein snaffle and not apply nose, chin, poll pressure as a combination bit.   This bit is special order and final sale.

Myler MBB Black Steel Flat Shank w/ Dots MB04

$323.99 $360.00
Myler MBB Black Steel 6 3/4" Medium Shank, MB 04 Low Port Comfort Snaffle, Level 2 The MB 04 is similar to the MB 02 in that it will rotate on the tongue and apply tongue pressure, however, it has a small (¼") port that introduces some tongue relief to the horse. The port allows the horse to swallow and move his tongue when he is moving forward and relaxed, which acts as a release or reward. The mouthpiece is curved, and it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation. Independent Side Movement Sweet Iron Mouthpiece Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars Black steel shank will discolor over time to an antique brown Stainless steel dots Copper Inlay Notes: The MB 04 provides an excellent transition from Level One to Level Two. It is suitable for a wide range of horses including green horses, experienced horses entering the Myler System, horses that have been ridden exclusively in a single-jointed mouthpiece, or horses that have not been ridden for a while needing re-schooling.
