Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB32-3
$305.99 $340.00
Myler Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank, MB 32-3 Mullen Triple Barrel, Level 2
The MB 32-3 is an innovative Myler alternative to the traditional mullen. It has three barrels which turn the mouthpiece from the typical solid bar of a mullen into a flexible bar which allows the horse to elevate his tongue and swallow more easily. When the reins are engaged, the mouthpiece becomes a solid bar like a traditional mullen, but with an exaggerated curve. This curved bar rotates across the bars and lips down on to the tongue, applying pressure across the entire surface of the tongue. The flexibility of the MB 32-3 makes it very forgiving and comforting when relaxed, but offers the rider control when engaged. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.

Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars

Notes: Because the tongue pressure applied by the MB 32-3 is evenly distributed across the entire tongue, this mouthpiece is considered "stronger" than the MB 04. However, its flexibility makes it a forgiving mouthpiece that works well for horses who have suffered mouth trauma or damage, or horses that tend to go behind the bit. For a ported mullen style offering more tongue relief, see the MB 06 or MB 36.
The 7" Flat Shank is stainless steel and curved slightly back towards the horse, with a flat-top purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment. The Flat Shank has the patented Independent Swivel Cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece and shank all move independently of each other. The purchase is slightly angled away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. It has an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. The flat shank uses the combination of the fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll.

Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB05
$296.99 $330.00
Myler Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank, MB 05 Low Medium Wide Ported Barrel, Level 3
The MB05 is one of the mildest Myler mouthpieces in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass under the bit. However, unlike the solid MB 33, the MB 05 collapses slightly although it does not fully rotate on to the tongue like a Level 1 or Level 2 mouthpiece. This gives the mouthpiece more give and may apply some light tongue pressure although it works primarily off the lips and bars. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ¼" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. Because the MB 05 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a trustworthy and consistent disposition, and is trained to work off the leg and seat as well as the hands.

Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB41PB
$305.99 $340.00
Myler Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank, MB 41PB Correctional Ported Barrel, Level 2-3
The MB 41PB is a truly unique Myler mouthpiece. This mouthpiece is a correctional mouthpiece, a ported mouthpiece that collapses on to the outer lip and bars, and rotates on to the tongue. The port has a tiered design; the base is generously wide with rounded corners, offering virtually the same comfort and tongue relief of a Level 3 mouthpiece, while the top is narrower and has pronounced corners. If the horse is relaxed, the tongue can pass comfortably under the wide opening. When the reins are engaged, the mouthpiece collapses on to the bars and lips and rotates on to the tongue. The pronounced corners of the port apply two points of pressure on the tongue for increased control. The result is a mouthpiece that offers maximum tongue relief for the horse, but very good control for the rider. The unique design and the generous tongue relief of the MB 41PB make it the only correctional that can be used long term, possibly even as a horse’s finishing bit. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.

Notes: The MB 41PB used with Western cheek pieces is 1 ¼" high. When used with English cheek pieces and the Combination Bit, it is ¾" high. For the same tongue relief see the MB 05, for a non-correctional mouthpiece with the same tongue relief, see the MB 33. For slightly more tongue pressure, see the MB 43LP. For quicker tongue pressure and less tongue relief, see the correctional MB 27PB.

Myler Flat Shank Western Bit MB16
$234.99 $260.00
Myler Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank, MB 16 Medium Wide Port, Level 3
The MB 16 is similar to the MB 33 but without the Independent Side Movement. The generously wide port allows room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. Because this mouthpiece is very wide, it applies little to no tongue pressure, working primarily off the bars, chin and poll. This mouthpiece does not offer Independent Side Movement, making it suitable for competing in sports where excessive rein movement is undesirable (reining, Western pleasure). The port on this mouthpiece is 1 ⅝" high, so it will apply little or no palate pressure. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.

Lynn McKenzie Myler 3-Ring Combo MB04
$349.99 $389.99
Myler Stainless Steel 4 3/4" 2-Ring Combination Bit with Rawhide Noseband, MB 04 Low Port Comfort Snaffle, Level 2
The MB 04 is similar to the MB 02 in that it will rotate on the tongue and apply tongue pressure, however, it has a small (¼") port that introduces some tongue relief to the horse. The port allows the horse to swallow and move his tongue when he is moving forward and relaxed, which acts as a release or reward. The mouthpiece is curved, and it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.

The 6" stainless steel 3-ring combination bit is a hybrid of a ring bit, shank bit, and hackamore and uses five different pressure points to disperse rein pressure. Because the noseband and chin strap are connected through the purchase, when the reins are engaged, the horse first feels nose, chin and poll pressure before he feels the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece can slide 1" before reaching a stop, where it will then engage and apply pressure. The purpose is to give the horse an opportunity to respond to the rider’s rein signals before applying mouthpiece pressure. The combination bit has Independent Swivel Cheek and the purchase is slightly angled away from the cheek to prevent rubbing. The noseband is flat leather with knotted cord on either side and the chin strap is synthetic to avoid stretching over time.
Action: Indirect
Discipline: English or Western
Degree of Leverage: The 3-ring combination bit offers three different rein positions: the big ring, middle ring and bottom ring.
Big Ring = No leverage
Middle Ring = Mild
Bottom Ring = Mild
Notes: If you ride with your rein attached to the big ring, it will function only as a direct rein snaffle and not apply nose, chin, poll pressure as a combination bit.
This bit is special order and final sale.
