Myler HBT Shank Western Bit MB47PB
$305.99 $340.00
Myler Stainless Steel 5" HBT Shank, MB 47PB Correctional Ported Barrel, Level 2-3
The 47PB is a correctional mouthpiece, a ported mouthpiece that collapses on to the outer lip and bars, and rotates on to the tongue. The port is narrower than a Level 3 mouthpiece, but offers plenty of room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. The angles of the port are rounded, so when the bit collapses and applies two points of pressure on the tongue, the pressure is mild. The port on this mouthpiece is 1 ⅞" high, so it will apply some palate pressure. Sweet Iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
Independent Side Movement
Sweet Iron mouthpiece
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips or bars
Copper Inlay
Notes: A horse with a thicker tongue or lower palate will feel more palate pressure. This mouthpiece is the correctional version of the MB 43HP and is identical to the MB 47, but with the added benefit of Independent Side Movement. For increased tongue pressure and same palate pressure, see the MB 27PB or MB 27PB HP. For more tongue relief with same palate pressure, see the 43HP. For less tongue pressure and little to no palate pressure, see the MB 43LP or MB 43MP. For the same mouthpiece but without Independent Side Movement, see the MB 47.
The 5" HBT shank is stainless steel and slightly curved back, with a flat-top purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment. The HBT shank has the patented Independent Swivel Cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece and shank all move independently of each other. The purchase is slightly angled away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. It has an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. The HBT shank uses the combination of the fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll.
Action: Indirect
Discipline: Western
Degree of Leverage: Mild
Notes: The HBT is well suited to trail riding as the shorter shank makes grazing easier for the horse.

Myler HBT Shank Western Bit MB47
$296.99 $330.00
Myler Stainless Steel 5" HBT Shank, MB 47 Traditional Correctional, Level 2-3
The MB 47 is a traditional correctional mouthpiece, which has a ported mouthpiece that collapses on to the outer lip and bars, and rotates on to the tongue. The MB 47 is identical to the MB 47PB but lacks Independent Side Movement. Sweet Iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
NO Independent Side Movement
Sweet Iron mouthpiece
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips or bars

Notes: This mouthpiece is the correctional version of the MB 43HP. For the same mouthpiece but with Independent Side Movement, see the MB 47PB. For the non-correctional version and little to no palate pressure, see the MB 43LP. For more concentrated tongue pressure and some palate pressure with Independent Side Movement™, see the MB 27PB HP. For less tongue pressure and some palate pressure with Independent Side Movement, see the MB 43HP.

Myler HBT Shank Western Bit MB03T
$309.99
Myler Stainless Steel 5" HBT Shank, MB 03T Twisted Comfort Snaffle with Copper Roller, Level 1
The MB 03T is a Myler twist version of the traditional French link or lozenge mouthpiece commonly used in snaffle bits with an added copper roller. The MB 03T rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, but because the mouthpiece is curved, it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece, however, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly and creates Independent Side Movement™. The MB 03T twist has no pronounced sharp edges, and the twist is a mirror on each side of the center barrel to provide a balanced feel for horse and rider. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
Independent Side Movement
Sweet Iron Mouthpiece
Curved Mouthpiece
NO Copper Inlay
Notes: The MB 03T is similar to the MB 02 except for a copper roller on the center barrel which can comfort horses that are restless or nervous. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04.

Myler Embossed Western Shank Bit MB98
$296.99 $330.00
Myler Stainless Steel 7 1/2" Embossed Seven Shank, MB 98 Narrow Medium Port, Level 3
The MB 98 does not rotate on to the tongue, but instead sits solidly across the bars and lips of the horse’s mouth. The port is narrower than most Level 3 mouthpieces, but still offers ample room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit easily. Because the port is narrow, when the reins are engaged, the horse might feel a slight pressure on the outside edges of the tongue — a gentle reminder rather than a strong reprimand. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 ⅝" high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. Because the MB 98 does not have Independent Side Movement™, it has a more solid feel.
NO Independent Side Movement
Sweet Iron mouthpiece
Copper Inlay
Notes: For Independent Side Movement and similar tongue relief, see the 43MP. For more tongue relief with Independent Side Movement, see the 33 or 16PB. For more tongue relief and no Independent Side Movement, see the 16.
The Embossed Seven Shank is an indirect (curb) rein action designed to be used with a curb strap which attaches to the purchase. This shank uses the combination of fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and poll. The cheek is embossed with a decorative floral pattern and concho. The mouthpiece attaches to the cheek with a square end that minimizes rein motion. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing.

Myler Embossed Western Shank Bit MB36
$323.99 $360.00
Myler Stainless Steel Embossed 7 1/2" Shank, MB 36 Mullen Forward Tilt Low Ported Barrel, Level 2-3
The MB 36 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is 1" high, and tilted forward at a 45º angle, allowing just enough room for the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lip, but also applies tongue pressure because of the forward tilt. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
Independent Side Movement
Sweet Iron mouthpiece
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips or bars
Copper Inlay
Notes: This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece is similar to the MB 06, except that it is ¼" higher and the port is tilted forward. The MB 06 mouthpiece will apply less tongue pressure than the MB 36 but additionally offer less tongue relief when the reins are relaxed. For more overall tongue relief and less tongue pressure, see the 43MP.

Myler Eggbutt Bit MB10
$215.99 $240.00
Myler Stainless Steel Eggbutt without Hooks, MB 10 French Link, Level 1
The MB 10 is a more comfortable Myler version of the traditional French link mouthpiece. It has a smaller link with a flatter contour which allows the tongue more freedom in the mouth and minimizes interference with the palate. Although it lacks the benefits of a “true” Myler mouthpiece, it has a distinctive curve so the bars of the bit wrap around the horse’s bar and lips which make the bit more comfortable.
NO Independent Side Movement

Curved Mouthpiece

USEF, FEI, and USEA Dressage Legal 2019. Consult rulebook for more information.
Notes: The MB 10 disperses pressure over the tongue similarly to the MB 02, but does not offer the Independent Side Movement™ of a true Myler mouthpiece. Popular with riders who are more comfortable with a traditional design, but we recommend that you try the MB 01, 02, or 03 to get the full benefit of Myler features. For more tongue relief, step up to the MB 04.
An eggbutt is a traditional cheek style which keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring. The straight side of eggbutt will not pull through the mouth and does not pinch. For a more versatile version, see the eggbutt with hooks.

The Black Steel Seven Shank is a length of round black steel in a “7” curve, with a ring purchase and a rein ring.
